Live auctions between people

Bid on what you want. Watch it close, second by second.

Sawim is a live auction market for people in Saudi Arabia. Sellers list an item and set how long the auction runs; bidders compete on one price and one countdown that everyone sees at the same moment.

Market rules

Rules set before the first bid, applied to everyone the same way

No balance to top up and no payments in the app. Every auction runs on a few fixed rules that the seller and the bidders know before it starts.

A late bid extends the auction

If a bid lands with less than a minute left, the clock goes back to a full sixty seconds, so everyone gets a chance to answer.

A cap on extensions

Twenty extensions at most, so no auction runs forever.

The seller's decision window

When a regular auction ends, the seller accepts or declines the price within 24 hours. Silence for the whole window counts as acceptance.

One clock: the server's

The countdown runs on the server's clock, not your phone's, so everyone sees the same time left.

How it works

Three steps, from sign-in to handover

  1. 01

Sign in with your phone number

A code arrives by text message — no password, no email. The first time, your account is created with that number.

    The Sawim home screen
  2. 02

    Bid in fixed steps

Each bid raises the price by a step the seller set, and the app asks you to confirm before placing it. Price and countdown are the same for every user.

    The live bidding screen
  3. 03

    Agree on the handover

When the item sells, buyer and seller exchange contact details in the app and settle payment directly with each other at handover.

    The auction-won screen

Screens are from the app, which is in Arabic.

Trust

How every auction ends

Each outcome is known in advance and written in the Terms of Use (in Arabic).

Sells at once

Sure sale

The seller committed up front to sell at the closing price, whatever it is. The item goes to the highest bidder the moment time runs out.

Seller decides

Regular auction

Time runs out and the price goes to the seller, who accepts or declines within 24 hours. Declining costs no one anything.

Closes now

Sell now

Once an item has a bid, the seller can sell to the highest bidder before time runs out, closing the auction at once.

No bids

Unsold

The auction ends without a sale and no one owes anything. Sellers can withdraw an item before its first bid.

The seller's pledge is binding

Before every auction the seller pledges that the item is theirs and truthfully described, and that an accepted sale binds them. Bidding on your own item is not allowed.

Report any listing

Every item page has a report button — counterfeit, prohibited, or not as described. We review each report, and the seller never learns who sent it.

No-shows are recorded

A winner who doesn't collect gets a mark that sellers can see. Two marks stop the account from bidding.

Sample items at illustrative prices

For sellers

List your item and let the bidding set its price

  1. 1

Photograph it and set a starting price

Clear photos and an honest description, with a starting price of at least SAR 10. Location data is stripped from photos before they're shown.

  2. 2

Choose the bid step and the duration

Turn on Sure sale to commit to the closing price up front, and your item carries a badge that reassures bidders.

  3. 3

    Sign the pledge and publish

You're notified of every new bid, before the auction ends, and when it sells.
